Quite Simply Human

Learning to thrive past 65

Welcome!

My purpose for creating Quite Simply Human is many faceted. As it takes shape I hope it will fall somewhere between a personal blog and a lifestyle blog and be a place for some input and sharing ideas and experiences amongst readers. Because I’m female its likely to appeal more to women but men may find some useful nuggets to make their lives easier as they cohabitant with their spouses. I’m sure my husband wakes up some mornings wondering who that stranger is standing at the sink next to him with the toothbrush in her mouth. Maybe this blog will be useful to him too!

After venturing into the no-man’s land of my seventh decade I got lost. I found myself feeling anxious and depressed. I think that I was born anxious but the added blues created a whole new and not so pleasant experience. I have rattled around for the last few years with one foot in my past life and one foot in a future I couldn’t clearly see, questioning myself repeatedly about whether I should slow down and “retire” or create something new and venture on. When I look in the mirror I see how time has taken its license with my outer self but I still feel an inner fire burning for a lifelong passion of creativity and, of course, riding. I haven’t resolved all of this but l’ve chosen to march on toward the fire, with the help of my friends (one of which is a caring and skilled therapist) with the fervent wish that sharing what I’m learning along the way will help others.

I will be adding to a reading list and quoting several authors who have interesting and useful advice, or just have a fun or unusual outlook on life. I’ll venture into areas like food, exercise and relationships, practices like journaling, yoga and meditation, and sharing some resources and experiences of my time on this lovely blue pearl planet.

I’ll always try to bring some fun to the posts. Avoiding religion and politics will be a goal unless it comes up in life lessons learned. You will find that I’m quite middle of the road in most things and very open to new ideas so please share!
